Winetour part two: Winebar ONA
We partnered with Wijnbar ONA to create a limited-edition wine bag in bordeaux VEGEA leather. The colour echoes the bar’s interior and the rich tones of red wine. The bag is crafted from grape waste skins, seeds and stems and celebrates shared passion for craftsmanship, design and sustainability.
About the collaboration
Last year, Arne and Ona of Wijnbar ONA were drawn to Lies Mertens’ wine bag. Their shared love of wine and respect for quality materials sparked a collaboration. The result is a wine bag made in bordeaux-coloured VEGEA leather, crafted from leftovers of the wine industry. The colour matches the deep red of wine and complements Wijnbar ONA’s interior.
Ona and Arne, recognised last year as Wine Lady of the Year and best sommelier in East Flanders, wanted something special. Their sustainable and unconventional approach aligned well with ours. We developed a limited run of 30 signed pieces in bordeaux VEGEA leather.
The design is inspired by both the material and wine culture. Its shape references a wine bottle; it’s easy to wear crossbody or on the shoulder, and spacious enough for a bottle or two.
A unique bottle of wine was designed especially for this collaboration, with a label created by Paulien Jans.
